Temple of Love
I have traveled the mountains and the sea,
I have emptied my heart of its emotion,
I will be pure, and get down on my knees
to pray at the shrine of blind devotion…
I will offer up my love and desire,
I will hand down these shrouds of sweet passion,
I will douse the remnants of friendship’s fire
and sacrifice to thee my compassion…
I ask for the chains, and deep anger’s shards…
I ask for the bed of snow in thy lake…
I will murder all of Love’s gracious bards
until her dignity and my soul break…
I will bleed the trees of life, the rocks of tears…
in thy temple I’ll erase these broken years.
